The party of mostly strangers quickly learns to work together. Beds, chairs and tables are quickly thrown down the corridor to pile up against the door.

The banging has stopped. You all stand behind a dining table hastily thrown on it's side at the corner in the entry hall, using it to provide cover. Those of you with ranged weapons have them drawn. There is enough debris piled against the door that it's very unlikely it can be opened.

There is still no banging. You all begin to relax, it appears that the assailant/s have left? Perhaps the noise they've created, even in this remote wing of the church and castle, has alerted the guard? Perhaps they are the guard?!

As these thoughts race around, and before anyone can speak, a thin tendril of smoke whips around lazily from the bottom of the double doors. It is quickly followed by a lick of bright yellow flame.

Fenner begins panicking. "There is another way out of here right!"

Grigory, being a dwarf allows you knowledge of a few things. Fire can't burn these stone halls, but fire needs air. You've heard stories of what a fire can do in a dwarven city, corridors full of dead dawrves who starved of air; and that's why they're always built with openings that can be utilized for airflow when needed. This place isn't dwarven construction, so unlikely to have those sorts of wise fail-safes built in.

Smoke is beginning to billow around the heap. The party doesn't have long to act.

" FENNER!" Grigori barks, "This is no time to panic, you and I are going to look for a way out. Arlette, Fera, Kull, you three find buckets and start drowning that flame; I will let you know when we find an escape."

Grigori then motions for Fenner to follow and begins looking for any suspicious walls or furniture.

Grigori, you begin your search in the kitchen, you ignored your bedroom as you're sure you would've noticed something in there. In the kitchen you feel the tug of a breeze. The flue in the stove! There is airflow here!

" EVERYONE! GET TO THE KITCHEN STOVE AND STAY LOW!" Grigori bellows, hoping everyone hears him.

Fenner stumbles into the kitchen having gone to his room for his things instead of searching. "This doesn't look like an exit!"
