DM I don't have a knowledge check for religion, does my untrained knowledge suffice? I will roll anyway and you can take or leave as appropriate

Arlette, yes untrained check is what you do there.

Fenner Bates, you recognise the symbol on the Gnomes shield. It is a symbol of Garl Glittergold, though it is not one you've seen before, it is recognisable enough. It is unusual though.

Kull listens to the mage but he struggled to understand how a dead person could be alive again. even tho he was somewhat courious he kept his mouth shut so others wouldnt think he didnt had the tinest clue. He turned to the gnome: so someone dug up some bodies and they are trying to use it for their cult stuff
any idea how to get bodies through the city without being seen ?

Grigori finally joins in, seeming rather solemn and a touch guilty at present. Carefully, he says, "Pardon the interruption, the Father said I would find you lot here, then something about missing bodies?"

Arlette fills in Grigori on the story thus far, "... and so here we are, with someone stealing bodies, dead or alive all over the place and we have to stop it. Are you in? Good." She slaps him on the shoulder without giving him a moment to respond and moves on.

Arlette turns to Kull "They probably transported the bodies like Landowe did, in a cart covered by other things, I mean, we didn't think to look and we were escorting him." She shakes her head sadly, perhaps if she had of peeked then she wouldn't be stuck searching for people doing terrible things to bodies now. That's the last time I resist searching through someones stuff again she thinks to herself.

"Let's go check out the graves, maybe talk to the man who discovered them missing, he must know something." She turns to the others, "Grigory, Fenner, do you want to stay here and keep talking with the Father, or join us in the graveyard?"

"Fera, what are you going to do?" She looks to the ring-in, always silent, but always there. She's sure he's up to something but can't figure out what. Yet.

DM Arlette is going to get the directions to the graves from the Father.

Fera breaks his usual silence to responsd. "You continue to pay me. I'll continue to follow. I would agree that we proceed to the graveyard."

Grigori your knowledge check gives you some more information that Fenner couldn't recall. The symbol is a holy symbol of Garl Glittergold, the god the the Gnomes. This particular symbol is a very old symbol though, and rare. You believe it has to do with a very specific kind of servant of Garl, but unfortunately you can't recall exactly what. His presence in the church of Pelor, in an administrative role, makes things even more unusual, and you're sure it's related to his symbol, but again, you can't recall what the connection may be.

Recap because all characters now have a full history of what's happened:
  • Original group was hired by Landowe, a merchant, to escort him along The Trails from Barlowe to Lavender
  • The Trails in Kalindar have had some danger recently, which the group has learned is due to a dispute between the Merchants Guild and the King of Kalindar.
  • Along the way to Lavender, Landowe was gravely injured
  • The group entered Avim were they learned that Landowe was transporting two bodies which were magically asleep
  • The local priest there, Father Cedril, and the aristocrat appointed as the local ruler, Lord Hargraves, both sent you on a mission to take the bodies to Kalindar, here to the church, where they were sure help could be found
  • When the party arrived in Lavender, the bodies were taken from them by a man who called himself Arnen
  • Brother Trey then appeared and implored you to get the bodies back from Arnen
  • You followed them to Kalindar, here, where they have disappeared
  • Here, Father Klavin, who he and Brother Trey are a part of The Sword of Pelor, and an arm of the church which deals in dark cults; have tasked you with stopping the cult's ritual, whatever it is
  • It appears that you're now all in the employ of The Sword of Pelor
It doesn't take long to find the graveyard, it is only just outside the castle, over a couple of hills. It is situated a little farther away than you'd expect. Once there, you're greeted by the groundskeeper, who says she saw you coming. She introduces herself as "Spruster". She is a very tall half-orc woman, bristling with sparse course hair and bulging with muscle. She is dressed simply and carries a spade and shovel in one meaty fist.

She takes you over to the graves without saying much by way of introduction. Once there she stands respectfully to the side, looking down at her feet. The two graves are next to each other, there are five piles of dirt around the graves, where the earth was tossed aside.

(there's about 2 hours of daylight left today, FYI)

"Yes," she replies earnestly. "No one has been in the graveyard at all today, except old Martha, but she comes every day."

"Hmmm, well I'm no expert on investigation; Arlette perhaps you could turn something up?"
