Arlette, somewhat bewildered by her midnight jaunt, heads to the market to find her companions. She is also on the look-out for a trained dog to buy; whilst she is not travelling alone, she finds a lack of companionship from her companions. She had hoped to make friends on her travels but instead has found her as the misfit in the bunch of misfits.

Maybe some more time she thinks to herself, but in the meantime, I'll get a dog to be my friend.

With the 400gp he got from father Cedril, Elec decided to splurge on upgrading his weaponry. As he was looking at the merchant wares, a composite longbow caught his eye, he missed the feeling of using an actual bow instead of just pressing a trigger, plus he can fire faster with a bow. On impulse, he spoke with the merchant and sold his crossbow and remaining 15 bolts and paid a bit extra to buy the composite longbow and 20 arrows. Continuing to look though the merchant wares, he decided to get a sturdier piece of armor, after the last time the Elven statue did a number on him, and he would prefer some sturdier protection, he bought a studded leather armor and tries to sell his old leather armor.

(DM composite long bow is 100gp and studded leather armor is 25gp)

Hragg winces at the sounds of the city. He'll be glad to get back into the countryside. He checks his gear and weapons, and gathers with the others, congratulating Elec and Kull on their evening's combats.

Kull having a bit small talk with some half orcs. He get quickly frustrated as they act different as he is used from. He trys to stay out of trouble and strolls around with no paticular goal and then retunrns to the party.

Elec, you can sell your stuff for half it's listed price. So:
  1. I've got you down as having 493.05gp
  2. Selling Light Crossbow - will get you 17.5gp
  3. Selling all your bolts - puts you at 514.55gp (I'm sure I've missed some bolts, but it's not really worth tracking it down)
  4. Selling Leather Armor - gets you another 5gp for a total of 519.55gp
  5. Buying Composite Longbow - costs 100gp, down to 419.55gp
  6. Buying 20 arrows - costs 1gp
  7. Buying Studded Leather - costs 25gp
  8. Final gp at 393.55
Hragg, you find while at the market that you've misplaced 100gp. You now have 382.78 remaining.

While we're at it:
Hilda - you have 9.41gp remaining
Kull - you have 440.5gp
Arlette - you have 499.04gp remaining

Kull and Arlette, you both should roll Spot checks now please.

Arlette, it takes a little time to ask around the market but you are eventually put onto a dog breeder. She has a few dogs for sale, all of them are Guard Dogs. She charges 25gp for a dog. She has a golden long-haired labrador, a german sheppard, and a non-descript brown dog. None of these dogs have names, the breeder does that on purpose, so they will like whatever name you give them. These dogs all know a few tricks:
  1. Attack - you can point at an enemy, or group of enemies, and command the dog to attack them
  2. Defend - the dog is always ready to defend you if you come under attack, it also gets it's own passive spot and listen checks. You can command it to defend someone else.
  3. Down - you can command the dog to stop it's attack
  4. Guard - you can command the dog to guard a spot and not let anyone approach
Commanding the dog to do any of these things is a DC 10. So you need to roll a Handle Animal check and roll a 10 or better. You are untrained in Handle Animal though, so all you're rolling is a Charisma check (1d20 + your CHA modifier, so 1d20+2). Making the command in combat is a Move Action; so you could also do your own attack and movement after commanding the dog. The dog will make it's movement immediately after your turn is complete (so if you command it to attack, it will attack after your moves are done and before the next person acts).

Because it's a pet, not a familiar, I will control the dog at times.

I will give you the "character sheet" for the dog after you select one.

Arlette has always had a soft spot for brown dogs and so purchases the brown dog and asks for any tips from the breeder for handling the dog.
