The group attempts to look menacing to back Arlette's posturing. Hilda can't help but smile pleasently instead of grimacing. Only Hragg manages to stare down a few of the men.

Arlette's result is now 19. The half-elf now rolls against this intimidation. If he gets a 19 or less then you've succeeded and can proceed (for now). If he gets above 19 though, you're going to get six arrows coming your way.

"Let's not be too hasty friends," he calls around to his comrades. "I've a thought that this group may be more trouble than they're worth."

He motions his hands down and the men around him reluctantly lowers their bows. One by one they make their way along the hill until they're out of bow range. There they sit in a circle, watching your group as you begin to clear the logs. As you make your way down the road, they rise from their circle and make their way back to where they were; probably to set the trap again for the next passers by, who probably won't be as lucky as your group.

When out of ear shot and eye sight of the men, Arlette makes her way down next to Hragg, "A common theif is pretty handy after-all" she jests at the dwarf, a big grin on her face for what they had accomplished, "in all seriousness, though, let me thank you for standing with us, with me." She looks the dwarf in the eye, genuinely thankful for his assistance. Quickly she becomes uncomfortable with this vulnerable display of gratitude, that maybe she let too much slip with her emotions. She immediately returns to the somewhat annoyingly cheerful and wild personality, "we make a good team, my friend, even if I do smell better than you!" She laughs and playfully punches him in the shoulder, tumbles away and skips back to join Hilda, hopeful to hear more tales of foods she will probably never enjoy.

Arlette, your attempt at tumbling away failed. You trip and fall into the dirt.

Hragg hates to admit it, but Arlette impressed him with her ability to control the situation before it descended into violence. He nods at her with a wry grin. If Stonemaster Jareg could see him not cavorting with humans and orc-bloods he'd be drummed out of Clangeddin's service. But, then again, Jareg was a bit of a prude...

He stops the half-elf before the man gets away. "Would you take a commission, sir?" He calls, pulling a pouch with a hundred gold pieces from his pack. "Instead of banditry, would you take money to protect those traveling through. I know this land is a dangerous one, and it cannot be less so for your band, here. Money is tight in every season." He opens the pouch and shows the half-elf the coins. "Would this pay for two months of your time?"

Kull looks in disbelieve at Hragg and arlette. At arlette because she shomehow managed to avoid a fight with a clearly stronger enemy. at hragg because he is offering money for a task thats difficult to control. He quietly says to himself: If grangahr would have know humans pay to avoid fights we would have avoided some scars. Then procceds to move the logs and waits for the rest of the party to move on if nothing else occurs. He also breaks his head over something during the journey

Hragg, the men converse briefly before the half-elf answers. "Aye, it's a pretty sum for a few months, which sounds to me like there's some trouble you're expecting, eh?"

"This lot here prefers the safer option of coin for safe passage... but I've nothing holding me down. Pay me 10gp now, and pay for my incidentals, food, lodging and whatnot, and I'll escort you for the week, at the end of which I'll take 10gp. If we still get along after that, well maybe we can cut a deal."

"Done and done." Hragg says. He counts out the coins. "What is your name, sir?"

The half-elf introduces himself as Feradrimlam, a musician and part-time hustler and general ne'er-do-well.

The rest of the days travel goes by uneventfully. Eventually the houses bunch up and you find yourselves on the street of Lavender. There is no wall here, at least not one that encompasses the town. One of the first things you notice is the architecture, the buildings here are two, three or even four stories tall. Single storied buildings are few and far between. The number of shops is also something that you notice, nearly every lower floor is a shop or merchant of some description.

Okay guys, you are now in Lavender. There's an hour or so before nightfall, what will you all do?

"We need somewhere safe to stay, to lock up our wagon, I'm going to go find some answers, let me know if you have better ideas."

Arlette will go find out where is good and safe to stay for the group. Afterwards, she will get about town looking for signs of a thieves guild to induce herself, and a gather information check, to see if people close to the kingdom know more about the rift with the merchants and perhaps where the evil things are coming from. She may also find a temple or a mage to ask for more information about Hector and magic that can make death appear. She also wants to know if anyone has heard of Feradrimlam.
