"I can't see a thing down there... Hilda, Hragg, should we take a look at that stone door we passed? What do dwarves keep in these kinds of places?"

DM Arlette will let those that can see lead the way. If they decide to go further into the tunnel she will follow with her torch but let those who can see be before and after her, in case anything sneaks up.

"Hilda, Elec, can you lead us back to the door, and Hragg, Kull, can you follow behind us and make sure nothing sneaks up on us?"

Assuming they all move back to the stone door
Once back at the stone door, Arlette inspects it for traps, and if she finds one she will attempt to disarm it.

If there are none/she successfully disarms any, she will strategically hide behind Hilda's shield before they open the door. "It's a dwarven tunnel after all, these are your kin" she remarks to Hilda, playfully tugging at her skirt to hide behind.

Kull walks at the back wary of any kind of an ambush. He doesn't feel really cofortable being in a dwraven construction. They are to small for his taste and way to linear. He asks the dwraves : why did this stone thing let us pass? He also looks for traps an ambushes from behind1d20+1

Hragg shushes the others. "Sound carries in tunnels." he admonishes. Typical humanoids... Assuming that all dwarves were alike so we must know what this place is and what it holds and why it was built...

Hragg minds the stonework, looking for clues that there may be traps.

Elec follows closely behind Hilda, his hands carefully feeling along the wall, as he moves towards the stone door. (if they reach the stone door, he would feel along the door to try to find any hidden traps.)

Arlette wonders the same as Kull, What are the dwarfs not telling us? That stone monster was destroying those goblins but let us pass? This is some kind of special dwarven magic.

She listens to Hragg and immediately tries to move more quietly, she's never been in a dungeon before and was nervously excited.

Hragg and Hilda discussed the situation with the statue. It had limited ability to talk, as it was only the remnants of a very ancient spell, but Hragg and Hilda were able to convince it that the blood of those it would let pass no longer existed, and that the blood of that clan was likely a part of every dwarf. This seemed to satisfy the statue, and so it allowed you all to pass. Upon passing the statue fell silent and would speak no more.

No traps are found by any of you. FYI, I believe only Arlette has trap sense, so the rest of you are unlikely to find any traps anyway.

Hragg the stonework is very well done, and is clearly old. There's surprisingly little damp in here considering the age of the place, a testament to the precise dwarven engineering that must be above you to keep the water run-off away from the corridors.

You open the stone door, it swings outward. Inside is a room twenty feet long and fifteen feet wide, the door set in the middle of the shorter side. In the far left corner there has been a partial collapse. Along the left and right walls are various crates, barrels and sacks. The room is completely dark save for the light from your torches. The scent of earth is much more apparent in here than it was in the corridor.

Arlette enters the room, holding her torch high to cast it's light as far as it can. She attempts to move silently as she searches the room for traps and anything of interest.

Arlette, I'll let you take 20 on the Search Check (this means you take as long as you need to do a thorough search, i.e. we pretend you rolled a 20 and add your modifier for a result of 26). Of interest you find:
  • A handful of copper pieces, 17cp
  • Two wooden bucklers with metal banding around the outside. The interior of the shield has intricate carvings of leaves and flowers.
  • A barrel of what you assume was once dwarven alcohol, but it reeks of poison and disease, especially judging by the dead rats floating on the top.

"Looks like this has seen better days, I wonder what happened to the ones who created this place? Perhaps they simply forgot about it, it's not exactly a wealth of treasures for who guarded it... " Arlette speaks to no-one in particular. "Let's check out the rest of this place." She motions to the tunnel, following the others out into the tunnel and down into the darkness.
