Yes it's normal. People generally join these games thinking it will be fun etc, but for whatever reason they don't like it or stop having fun. The pace is what usually puts people off, which is why I am always trying to keep things moving.

The fact that you and Arlette are still here from day one is unusual. Most of these games don't last a year, let alone keep players for that long.

If you get an RSS reader for your phone, I think you can subscribe to the RSS of the forum, then you'll get push notifications. I haven't done it, but I think Fenner said it worked.

I'm enjoying my time here, for sure. I also make the effort to check every day. Oft' times it's a couple times a day. This last week has been pretty busy for me though.

I apologise for my absence recently - I've definitely been enjoying it. I started a new course within the last couple weeks, so all my time got sapped away. I'm finally back at balancing commitments/social better though (despite the circumstances), so I ought to be back on top of things. Reasonably so anyway. But I swear I am around ahaha.
